StoneForest (Shilin)

About 90 km or 3-1/2 hr bus ride from Kunming City, lies the Stone Forest. I took the free shuttle bus from Camellia Hostel to the railway station and bought a bus ticket to the Stone Forest from there.

I went there because they said if you went to Kunming without seeing Stone Forest, you are wasting your time. Ha! I must add, "unless you are interested in geography or you know how to appreciate natural rock formation or stone structure" it's a waste if you did not visit this great geological site.

Million of years ago, this place used to be a big sea. Over time, the water retreat and give way to the rise of the limestone landscape. With time and erosion, it finally becomes what it is today. If you know how to apprecite, you will find these rock formation interesting. It leaves a lot to your imagination.
